That is what I do. I work independently in energy and infrastructure, and I take on delivery assignments with consultancies, engineering firms and framework holders who need experienced capability on the ground rather than another layer of management.

Twenty years across Shell, Chevron, BP, major UK utilities and national energy programmes. I have led workstreams, not just advised on them.

• Business process and operational excellence workstreams — management of change, root cause analysis, KPI and metric definition, loss capture, training design and embedding
• Target operating model design — how work is organised, who decides what, which data is trusted
• Asset management and maintenance strategy — including the shift from corrective to predictive and preventive
• Programme delivery and governance — decision forums, reporting that surfaces risk rather than status, stakeholder alignment
• Turnaround and shutdown readiness — stakeholder mapping and decision rights before the plant comes down
• Digital and AI readiness — assessing whether the data foundations will carry what is being proposed

03How I work with you

I am used to operating inside someone else's programme, under their brand, to their governance. I turn up, take the workstream, and report to your delivery lead. No badge on the door, no attempt to expand the scope.

Engagement is usually day rate through a limited company, inside or outside IR35 as your framework requires. I hold professional indemnity cover and complete supplier onboarding as needed.

Availability is typically two to four days a week, on site or remote, UK, Middle East or Africa.

04Why an associate rather than a hire

Framework work arrives in bursts. Hiring for peak capacity is expensive and slow, and the person you need for an operational excellence workstream in a refinery is not the person you need for the next bid.

An experienced associate is a delivery lead's decision, not a procurement exercise. I can usually start within weeks.
